Join highly-regarded BC instructor/practitioner Cathy Ryan RMT for this practice-enhancing opportunity!
Cathy is a chapter contributor in Fascia, Function and Medical Applications (CDC Press 2020) and a regular contributor of fascia-related articles in Massage Matters Canada Magazine (MTABC publication).
This course will explore the fundamentals of current fascial foundational science, evidence-informed clinical considerations and engage participants in knowledge translation and critical thinking for the purpose of facilitating better client outcomes. It is my goal to make integrating fascia research fun, digestible and applicable to massage therapy practice.

- How do you incorporate current fascia research into your clinical practice to improve client outcomes?
Applying her 30+ years of evidence informed-massage therapy clinical experience, Cathy will endeavour to answer these and all of your pressing questions.
Two Thursdays - February 13 and 27
7:30pm - 9pm Sask. time
1.5 primary credits per session
Each session is a 1 hour presentation followed by 30 minute Q&A.
Minimum 20 registrants required.
February 13: Part 1 - Fascia Science Fundamentals
- Structure and Function - what is it, what does it do and how does it do that?
- Includes microanatomy, macroanatomy, physiology.
February 27: Part 2 - Dysfunction and Clinical Considerations
- What is the impact of injury?
- What can we do and how does what we do work?
- Includes types of myofascial techniques/therapeutic loading and evidence-informed explanation.
Via Zoom - registrants will be sent the link closer to the event date.
**If you can't make it to the live events, register and you will receive the recordings to watch for a limited time at a later date**. (Literature review must be submitted to your file on the website in order to claim the credits for watching a recording.)

LivingWorks ASIST Workshop is recognized as the global leader in suicide intervention training and is a 2-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid.
What Will You Learn?
LivingWorks ASIST helps learners become willing, ready, and able to intervene with someone who has thoughts of suicide. You will learn to:
• Help someone with thoughts of suicide develop a safety plan to keep safe-for-now and connect with further help.
• Apply a Safety Framework to guide the development of this SafePlan through a collaborative, helping relationship.
• Understand how personal and community attitudes about suicide affect someone’s openness to seek help and your ability to provide it.
• Build confidence and capacity in providing suicide first aid.
Who Should Attend?
Anyone aged 16+ years is encouraged to take LivingWorks ASIST. No previous experience or training is required.
LivingWorks ASIST is a training that strengthens your whole community, building a Network of Safety that helps you apply suicide first aid in many settings like schools, homes, workplaces, and as a part of formal caregiving roles.
How Will You Learn?
We aim to provide a safe learning environment. The learning process includes:
• Trainer presentations and powerful videos to stimulate discussion and support learning.
• Extensive opportunities for skills practice.
• Shared participant experiences that enrich learning.
• Trainer-facilitated workgroups to optimize participation.
Direct and honest discussion about suicide is encouraged. While sometimes challenging, this prepares helpers to openly approach people with thoughts of suicide, and to help them keep safe.

In this 2 day comprehensive workshop, participants will learn when, how & where to use the cups effectively. Various cupping techniques (stationary & sliding), contraindications, specific treatments, and all major body areas will be covered. Plenty of hands-on time so participants will feel confident using these techniques immediately.
Myofascial cupping can be integrated into a massage or used as a stand-alone treatment. A 17 piece plastic cupping set is included with the cost of tuition.

MHFA is a nationally recognized certification course developed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada. The course aims to develop the skills of participants in providing help to a person experiencing a mental health and/or substance use problem or crisis. Just like physical first aid is provided until medical treatment can be obtained, MHFA is given until appropriate support is found or until the crisis is resolved.
Registration information:
Cost to attend is $275.00/person plus 5% GST and the course capacity is 15 participants.

Provider will confirm your seat by email after receiving your completed registration form. This confirmation email will contain an invoice for registration fees.

Self-Directed Learning
Two weeks prior to the course start date, participants will receive log-in details for the Learning Management System. In the two weeks leading up to the facilitator led virtual classrooms, participants must complete:
Module One – self directed learning (approx. 2hrs)
Self directed reading of the participant reference guide ~150 pages (approx.. 3-6hrs)
Facilitator Led Virtual ZOOM Classrooms:
Module Two – facilitator led session (3.5hrs)
Module Three – facilitator led session (3.5hrs)
Technology considerations: Each participant is required to have a device with audio and video capabilities for the ZOOM virtual classroom sessions.
