Share Your Knowledge at the RMTAO Education Conference
The Registered Massage Therapists' Association of Ontario has issued a Call for Presenters for the upcoming RMTAO Education Conference: Excellence in Practice, taking place May 3-5, 2013 in Toronto, Ontario.

The RMTAO Education Conference: Excellence in Practice is an education event that emphasizes excellence in the profession of massage therapy. The conference is an opportunity for massage therapists to further develop their role in Ontario's health care system and to be better able to fulfill the obligations that they have taken upon themselves to the public at the time they become registered. Striving for excellence is essential to the quality of work provided by massage therapists, which contributes to the growth of the profession. This conference is an opportunity for massage therapists to develop clinical, research and business skills to provide better services for clients and excellence in their practices.

The RMTAO invites individuals to share their knowledge and experience at our upcoming Education Conference: Excellence in Practice. This Call for Presenters is your guide to determining how you can contribute to information sharing and knowledge transfer with members in the massage therapy community. Proposals may be submitted to present relevant materials in your area of expertise for any of the components of the Conference.

NOTICE FROM WCB - MARCH 7TH, 2013

Dear Care providers:

For some time now, WCB staff has taken time from their assigned duties to provide claim numbers to care providers who telephone asking for this information.

We have now reached the point where these requests are outstripping our ability to provide the information and are negatively affecting our ability to provide services to injured workers and employers.
We must cease providing this service but we want to minimize the impact on your business.

Some information which we think would be useful to you includes:

1. There is a common misconception that the care provider requires a WCB claim number to invoice or send reports to WCB in paper or on-line format. THIS IS NOT ACCURATE INFORMATION.
As long as you provide as much identifying information as possible on the form, WCB should have no difficulty linking your report/invoice to the correct worker, even if he or she has a common name or if the injured worker has more than one injury claim registered with the WCB. Be aware that SIN, PHN and AREA OF INJURY are important and will eliminate most errors/problems.

2. Most injured workers know their claim number and can provide it to you as the number is included in correspondence they receive from the WCB

3. Referrals from WCB Health Services will always include a claim number

4. Where a payment for care provider services has been made to you, the voucher will show the worker's claim number.

5. Physicians, Physical Therapists, and Chiropractors have an alternate payer or a negative response approval process. This allows these providers to begin treatment the day the injured worker arrives at the clinic with the Initial Report form notifying the WCB that treatment has started. Again, a claim number is not necessary for submission of these reports.

If you have questions or concerns about the above information, please call me at 306-537=-6047 so that I can answer any questions that you have about process in our office or yours.

Thanking all of you for your services to WCB clients,

Chris Drobot
