Board Exams 2010 | |||
|
The winter Board Exams will be on the following dates: Saskatoon - December - location and date TBA. If you have graduated from a massage therapy program that is 2,200 hours or longer, you are eligible to write the exam, which consists of a written test and an oral practical test. The written exam is 125 multiple choice questions in 2 hours. The practical exam consists of 3 components - anatomy/landmarking, general questions and contraindications; case study; and comprehensive tests. The exam is 75 minutes long. You must achieve 75% or higher in EACH exam in order to receive a mastered grade. Results are not averaged over the two exams. The MTAS legislation met with Don McMorris and Terry Gudmunson (Saskatchewan Party) on Friday June 23rd to discuss the issue of self-regulation for massage therapists in Saskatchewan. We were met with a very positive response on this iniative. We look forward to more dialogue with the SaskParty as we continue to press for legislation in the province of Saskatchewan. | |||

| Massage Therapy Research Competition | |||
|
Holistic Health Research Foundation of Canada -- September 2010 research competition in massage therapy Through its Massage Therapy Research Fund (MTRF), the Holistic Health Research Foundation of Canada invites applications in: A total funding amount of $50,000 is offered. Grant applications up to $15,000 will be considered. Studies may be qualitative, quantitative, or mixed method. Initially, funding preference will be given to smaller, pilot, or creative study designs. In this way, the MTRF aims to assist the scientific and massage communities in building a foundation for the eventual construction of more complicated research projects. The MTRF encourages applications that also seek funding from other sources. The principal investigator must be affiliated with a Canadian charitable institution (university or hospital) that is willing to administer the finances of the grant. Funds are awarded to the charitable institution, not to an individual. The research team may include members affiliated with a non-Canadian institution. One member of the research team should be a massage therapist. Students at the masters level and above are encouraged to apply. Deadline to receive submissions is Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 5 p.m. ET. Applicants will be notified of the status of their applications by December 15, 2010.
